Making the Jump to Apps
By Staff | September 17, 2013

MSPC is taking technology powerhouse IBM from the pages of its magazine to a new iPad app, giving way to a whole new consumption approach for their technologically advanced readership.
One simple way to reach as many audiences as possible is to produce content on numerous platforms. Having multiple platforms provides readers with options that will meet their needs, so their access to your content is simpler and more likely.
MSPC client IBM Systems Magazine faced the challenge of meeting readers with the right content on the right platform. While one might think posting your articles online is enough, that just isn’t the case. In fact, a recent article by the Content Marketing Institute states that some 66 percent of people prefer reading on a tablet to a PC.
So, that’s where we went.
The Power Systems iPad app, which we first launched in July, allows IBM to meet the demands for on-the-go content consumption, as well as an interactive user experience. It gives users more options to access IBM’s content in a new and unique way.
The app is ongoing and concurrent with the monthly issue. It was joined this month by a bimonthly app for the Mainframe audience.
Users have access to interactive features, videos and articles that cover customer case studies, hands-on solutions to IT challenges, and other topics that can sometimes actually be more useful when you’re on the move.
MSPC has had positive feedback from IBM, the magazines’ readers, and advertisers about the app. Success is measured through the number of installations, pages viewed and issues downloaded, plus comments received from both readers and IBM. From this feedback, we will continue to learn from and enhance our iPad readership experience.
Be on the lookout for the IBM 2014 Android app…
